Just so people know: the included PDF is a ONE TIME THING!!. The list has a 40k limit and I manually overrode it for this purpose. It also was a test of how this process works as an admin on the list.

Abuse of privilege? Probably. If someone has a need to send a larger included file than is usually allowed, I think, within reason (OK - I am talking about ALE here - hmm...) the occasional, non-inflammatory file posting of a relevant nature and need is doable. I don't know of anyone who is on a metered connection (that would be a bad thing for them). I also don't know how an attachment would be handled by the digest function. If anyone is using digest of ALE and the attachment came in poorly or not at all, please let me know.

I now return you to your normal postings of geeky blathering and banter and general Linuxy goodness.

On Sat, Apr 19, 2008 at 10:36 AM, Jim Kinney <jim.kinney@gmail.com> wrote:

I have to use MS Word and MS Excel to do my chemistry lab reports this
semester, and summer. I can't use OO Calc because it doesn't support
adding the trend line equation to a plot. I could use OO Writer for
the Word parts, but since I have to use Excel, I just go ahead and use
Word. I'm using Office 2008 for Mac, and if it is any indication of
Office on Windows then there is plenty reason to use OOo aside from a
possible subscription model. Office 2008 is the insanely frustrating
and slow.

Yes. I just implied OOo is faster than Office. It's that damn bad.
