we also have a public archives of the entire list traffic since the begining of dirt. That archives is, and has been searchable by google since google went live. The crosslinking between the two mediums is of little consequence unless someone is sending sensitive data to the list.

It that case they would be rather foolish since there are _FAR_ more subscribers than active participants.

I don't plan on ever posting anything to the google group for ale unless the ale machine goes up in smoke. I don't expect anyone else to use it for any other purposes as well. It is not worth bothering with except as a backup for the traffic.

Plus is it quite clunky and awkward to use/read compared to email (gmail does a nice threading but I can't turn it off).

On Thu, Feb 21, 2008 at 4:18 PM, James Taylor <James.Taylor@eastcobbgroup.com> wrote:
I don't have a problem checking the web site for a status if the list is down.
I do have problem with my list messages being propagated to an entirely different communication medium.
If I subscribe to a listserver I expect the messages I generate to be directed at that audience unless specifically defined by the list policies, in which case I can decide at that time whether I want to subscribe.
