It was mentioned several weeks ago that if I compiled (rpm --rebuild) a
.src.rpm file, that the result would be different than the provided
binary .i386.rpm file. Are there many changes that need to be made to
the spec (or any other) file in order for the rebuilt-from-src to be the
same?
Specifically, I've rebuilt to the i586 architecture many of the RedHat
6.2 packages from source just by issuing the command:
rpm --rebuild --target i586 foo-ver.src.rpm
Many of the build went fine, except for the fact that a few links to
libraries were different, and some file that needed linking to wasn't
found (but didn't cause a big problem). I would like to have an i586
(or better) version of RedHat that would be functionally identical to
the i386 provided binaries.
Again, is there something in the spec file I need to change for the
rebuilt-from-src file to be functionally identical?
Thanks,
Scott
