I don't know about Compaq Presario-specific issues, but you can find info on

I've got a laptop that dual-boots Win98 and Red Hat (kernel 2.3.99-pre9

even!). It's not that hard to config Win98 to dual-boot. There's a HOWTO

(or mini) explaining how to do it available at http://www.linuxdoc.org/ .

In a nutshell, it involves customizing the Win98 CONFIG.SYS file to add

a menu item that (in my case, at least) runs a special DOS utility called

LOADLIN (which is on your RH CD under a dostools/ subdir), passing as an

argument the name of a kernel file that you've copied over to Win98. There

are non-trivial details such as the partition creation sequence and copying

a kernel file over to Win98, but they're covered in the HOWTO. Whatever you

do, do NOT let lilo copy over your Master Boot Record (MBR).
