you should be able to boot all of those with LILO
my computer at home has win98 on the first primary partition, BSD on the second,
then an extended partition with a few linux partitions and 2 FAT32 partitions.
Windows98 (and presumably 2k) is picky about where on the hard disk it has to be
located for it to boot. It certainly has to be in its own primary partition (i'm
pretty sure), but additionally this partition must be contained within the first
2gb of the hard disk.
I used partition magic to set up my windows installation first, then created
"empty" partitioins of blank drive space where i knew i wanted to install unix and
linux. i let the partioning programs that came with both OS's set up the
corresponding partitions .
