I would suggest xemacs. Even though it is not WYSIWYG, it is the easiest content creation package I have used. It has color highlighting, shortcuts and many other features. One of my favorites is an automatic preview in the web browser every time you save. It may take a few hours to get started, but it is worth the effort. I have used the packages on windows and haven't found anything better than this.
