I know this list is littered with web developers so:
I have recently purchase JN's book on "Designing Web Usability". It covers some
interesting thoughts that have provoked me to do a few experiments. My main
question right now concerns a comment he makes about content/client negotiation
and having style sheets for different screen sizes and resolutions. He makes it
clear that this is not available until changes in the HTTP protocol take place.
My question to the challenged:
When rendering/interpreting a document what order do things happen in the web
browser?
The three main elements I am concerned with are:
the document as a whole
scripting (javascript or other)
style sheets
Does the browser interpret each as it reaches them in the document or does it
read in the whole document, apply an scripts then format with the style sheets?
Can someone point me to a reference for your answers?
Thanks,
