You can try using fdisk. Make sure that the unallocated space is
actually free space and not another NTFS partition. Also don't have a
single linux partition larger than 8gb that has your root file system,
setup multiple partitions might solve your problem as well. I say this
because I know you can have exteneded partitons larger than 8gb, but I
don't know if a primary or secondary can be larger. It is worth a try.
