A couple questions:

(1) Can you reach the server from itself? From other Linux clients?

(2) What's in TNSNAMES.ORA on the NT side, exactly? The only

time I've seen 12505 is when something is hosed in TNSNAMES. It

seems to mean that the problem is in actually finding the named SID

in the TNSNAMES file, not eg a network problem. Though the fact that

TNSPING works is kinda weird...
