I don't remember the details, but check what Freeamp is outputting to:

ex: OSS, ALSA, esound.  Also verify that you can use sound on other

applications.

For example, I use the "standard" oss-lite drivers that come with

the kernel, and I select "soundcard.pmo" under plugins.
