I feel that Linux's popularity was boosted greatly by the goings-on
between the DOJ and Microsquishie, and I think that the reason we get
mentioned more than anyone else is threefold: 1. there are more of us
than there are, for example, Be users, or users of other unices, 2. we
are more vocal than the users of other unices, and 3. our OS is a lot
cheaper than most of the other unices (save for NetBSD, which matches our
price).
On the cynical side, I would like very much for Microsoft to port Office
to Linux, so that I can decide not to buy it :-P
