Well, I wouldn't particularly recommend Horton's book. The Java in a
Nutshell book by O'Reilly (I've got the 1.1 version) is a good reference,
but not a good beginner's book. I hope this helps.

Subject: [ale] Java Books
My wife is wanting to teach herself how to program in Java, and I was hoping
someone had a recomendation for a good book to help her out. She has done
some SQL programming, but never any OO or "real" programming. I can program
in Java, but I would like something readable that she can use without me
having to help out that much. Any info is appreciated.
Thanks,
Doug
