I am still trying to figure this error out. I do fine compiling the
kernel up until doing make bzImage. The following is the error I get :
make[1]: Entering directory /usr/src/linux-2.0.36/arch/i386/boot'
as86 -0 -a -o bbootsect.o bbootsect.s
make[1]: as86: Command not found
make[1]: *** [bbootsect.o] Error 127
make[1]: Leaving directory /usr/src/linux-2.0.36/arch/i386/boot'
make: *** [bzImage] Error 2
[root@dptest linux-2.0.36]#
This is a stock ( or so I assume ) Redhat 5.2 install. The cd's came
from a Sam's Publishing book entitled Redahat Linux Unleashed.
Everything else is working fine so far. I haven't really done much due
to to trying to cross this hurdle first.
As suggested, I did try installing the dev*i386 rpm from the cd and
received a message stating that it was already installed. Nothing was
updated.
I'm not sure where to look for the as86 command the above error mentions
in regards to reinstalling it. Is it in a package or ...... ?
I'd appreciate any ideas or help.
TIA,
Ryan
