You can go into Linux from a Dos prompt, but that is the least best

way.  If you need to share the machine with another os you can split the

drive and choose at boot.  If you don't, Linux formats the drive for

it's own file system, boots into Linux and you can have a Linux boot

floppy for emergencies.
