Well, sure.  The cool thing is that anything mechanical or fluidic would

be largely immune to EMP's.

..which has gotten higher due to improvements in tape technology.  For

that matter, it may be debatable which, based on raw cubic footage of

space consumption, is getter, a station wagon full of tapes or a station

wagon full of DVD's (in envolopes, not jewel boxes).
