Hmm. I do remember that, once upon a time, the samba user had to
have a valid shell in /etc/passwd (with, of course, their /etc/passwd
password being invalidated). Thus, try adding a user to /etc/passwd called
"everyone" with a valid shell, yet, "*" password.
The other option is, of course, what is smbd telling you in it's
log files at the time which you are attempting to log in as "everyone"?
