Hi, everyone,
I have a working Samba installation, but I have the
following odd problem:
On the Samba server (running Slack 3.6, Samba 2.0.6),
I have two users corresponding to Windows network
logins; they are called Joe (me) and Everyone (a generic
user for wife and kids). I have assigned
passwords to both using smbpasswd, and I have confirmed
that both are listed in the "valid users" section of
each share definition. I've restarted smbd and nmbd just
to be sure. Encrypted passwords are enabled on the
Samba side.
On my wife's Win98 machine, if I log in as Joe I can
access the Samba shares, but if I log in as Everyone
I always get an "incorrect password" error when
trying to "net use" the Samba shares or when browsing
the Samba server from Net Neighborhood.
Anyone know what could cause this?
TIA,
- Joe
