I noticed from 'netstat' that some tcp ports were hung in 'CLOSE_WAIT'

state from file transfers which must have been at least a few days ago,

such as:

 Proto Recv-Q Send-Q Local Address    Foreign Address         State

 [...]

 tcp        1      0 :1078 helios.metalab.unc.:www CLOSE_WAIT

 [...]

I don't notice any problems this might be causing, but I wondered if there

were some control I should set which would close out such ports after some

timeout period.

This is RH-6.1.
