Please don't get me wrong, it's a great idea, and one worth
possible pursuit, just keep that in the back of your head (liability).
If your going to do something like that, try to go through
your local civic associations, having a reputable backing
will help reenforce trust.
people will over scutinize something for free vs something that is cheap.
I once tried to give away a TV at a ham fest, people would
pick it up, look inside, smell it, ask if it worked, stepped
backed, looked at it sideways...it stayed for over an hour.
Finally, I placed a $1.00 sign on it and it sold in 5 minutes
no questions asked.....people can be funny.
So if a group in itself is stating that they will offer their
services for free, people may wonder WHY? Aren't they good
enough to sell their services? What's wrong with the programs
that they are free. I understand GPL, you understand GPL, but
does mom & pop?
Volunteering is a great thing, I was in EMS for 10 years and
wouldn't have traded for anything.
