Based on my experience with it in the past, I'd rather avoid Netscape's
server. I much prefer Apache for general purpose web serving, and either
Boa or Thttpd for serving static pages as fast as possible.
There are web server benchmarks here:
http://www.acme.com/software/thttpd/benchmarks.html
You can clearly see that Netscape's server... oh, wait. You can't see
anything about Netscape's server- their license prohibits publishing
benchmark results:
6. Restrictions. Except as otherwise expressly permitted in
this Agreement, Licensee may not:
[...]
(viii) publish any results of benchmark tests run on any Product to a
third party without Netscape's prior written consent
If you want to see something that will run rings around a Sun/Solaris,
take a look at Digital Unix^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^HCompaq's Tru64 Unix
running on Alphas.
