There was a message on the bind mailing list asking about buffer overflows in 8.2.2-p3:

The apparent conclusion was that the scanning software was giving false positives, 

and that the particular bug had been fixed with 8.1.2-T3B.

Could this be the same overflow problem you are referring to?
