ALS was founded by a group of ALE members in 1997. Every year
we ask interested ALE members to join in planning and running
the annual October conference.
ALE members pitch in every year to help work 5 days of setup,
daily show operations and teardown. We are very thankful to
all of our friendly dedicated volunteers who have helped to
give ALS the worldwide reputation of a great linux event.
The plus side for ALE memebers is some of the ALE giveaways
are stuff we get because of ALS every year.
On the 'legal' technical side, ALE is just a cabal of people
who happen to meet once a month and has no formal charter.
ALS is a chartered GA corperation so we have legal status to
sign contracts, get insurance and the other 10,000 details it
takes to run a conference.
So we welcome all ALE members to help plan, run or attend ALS.
(Better yet, do all three!)
