a-ha. There was a symlink 'vim' in the /bin directory that pointed
to /bin/vi. At the same time, there was /usr/bin/vim. I deleted the
/bin/vim symlink so whenever I just type 'vim' at a command line, it
brings up /usr/bin/vim.
