I just installed Mandrake R7 on my wife's PC (She is tired of the BSOD in
windows) and the installation went smoother than any other distro I have ever
had any experience with (I have a pretty good deal of experience with Caldera
OpenLinux and a decent amount of experience with TurboLinux).
Anyway, for what ever it's worth, out the the above listed distro's, I would
always recommend new users buy/obtain mandrake as thier first Linux system due
to ease of installation. The installation program is not as pretty "Not a true
GUI", but the install program was able to reconize almost every piece of
hardware in her system (with the exception of the Matrox video card) and
properly configure it (The install program properly configured the external
modem, ethernet card, HP Deskjet 810C as well as all mass storage devices).
Just thought I would let you all know...
