Because I wanted MORE, I upgraded a perfectly excellent 5.1 installation to
Red Hat 6.1.
My sound card (Sound Blaster PCI 128 Ensonics 1370) worked after I bought
the driver from OSS.
Linux configuration "saw" the sound card and successfully sent a test file
to the card and the speakers.
NOW dmesg shows some "ei 1370 " stuff on boot up.
I can successfully "cat" an au file to /dev/audio.
I can successfully start the cdrom via the gui.
I can hear it with earphones.
I CAN NOT hear anything over the speakers.
I wish I had stayed with 5.1. I may go back.
