Seems like it was about a year ago when mindspring started filtering
SMTP traffic. It annoyed me at first too, but I've since come to appreciate
the benefits of it. A spammer likes to use a dial-up account for internet
access because it's cheap and "disposable". But a spammer doesn't want
to send his mail through the ISP's servers because the mass mailings would
be quickly detected and blocked.
