I've found the problem. It was a bad cable going from the server to
it's hub. We replaced the cable and things go well, now. Large files
are still slower than they should be because of the IDE drive in the
server. After about 20 Meg or so the server stop s and devotes all
it's CPU to writing to disk. This makes a 64MB transfer take about 30
seconds insteda of under 10. But since it isn'ta heavily loaded
server, it will work for now. For "small" files of 16MB or less it is
very quick.
