Hello all...

        I was recently on the Delorme (Street Atlas USA, AAA Map'n Go, other

GPS products, etc) and left them a message asking why they didn't have any

Linux products.  I like their mapping programs but the fact that I have

to run it under VMWare (since I haven't booted Windows natively for over

two years) is disappointing to say the least.  Actually, it sucks.  I love

VMWare, but I hate the fact that I have to use it.  ;-/

        Surprisingly enough, I got an answer back.  Unfortunately, they

don't seem to have any plans to port to Linux.  Tammy (the person responding

to me) did ask that if I knew of any other Linux users (ROTFL) to ask them

to email them at suggest@delorme.com.

        Ask and yea shall receive!  Just be careful what you ask for,

you might just get it!

        I haven't sent anything up to Slashdot since the Slashdot effect

would be a bit of overkill.  However, I'm sure that there are plenty of

Linux Enthusiasts on this list who would be willing to spred the word and

to accomdate them and let them know up at suggest@delorme.com.

        I would recommend including a copy of her message (below) however,

just so everyone there knows that they did ask for our response.  :-)

        I would also recommend NOT hitting her personal address.  She was

nice enough to respond to me so I would hate to have her flooded with

messages that should have gone to their suggest address.

        Feel free to forward this message to other APPROPRIATE forums

that I may have missed!

Thank you for your inquiry.  At this time we do not have any plans to format
our products to the Linux platform.  I will send a suggestion to our Suggest
Department and hopefully they will take this into consideration when they
are looking for future updates.  The more people that request this platform,
the greater the chance of DeLorme considering it.  So, if you know any other
Linux users, ask them to email us at ">suggest@delorme.com and maybe in the
future it will pay off.
