Create a Linux kernel with the drivers of your machine. Create a boot/root
disk combination that will load the TCP/IP Stack, NFS mount shares, then
give
you the ability to dd the image on the new hd. Be careful over geometry
changes. One solutions would be to create the partitions, FS, and then untar
the archive. After a final lilo it should be fine.

Subject: [ale] ghost/image software for linux
Any one found a solution to boot from a minix/linux floppy and pull images
from a server down to PC's? We currently use GHOST for this and attach
using a dos boot dick and NDIS drivers for netware. I want to be able to
mount an NFS volume and suck everything thing down via IP.
Any ideas?
