When the MeiOne rep spoke at ALE he said they didn't care what you
ran. One tech support rep even gave my friend the advice to go get a
masquerading router.
When the install tech came to my house, I told him that I didn't want
him to configure my machine. Instead, I would tell him what my MAC
address is. He wrote down my address and when to his truck. From
there, I think, he called in some basic info including my MAC, then a
half an hour later we checked the cable modem. We fiddled around
until the light on the modem finally showed network connectivity.
Then dhcp worked great and we said "goodbye".
At one point he did say "Linux! Not supported!" And I said "I know,"
but that was the only complaint he offered.
