Hello all.
After a long time with my Linux box in storage, I got it out, and tried to
get the network card on it and the PC my wife uses talking. I managed to
get everything figured out, added routes as needed to have dial-up access
and the ethernet working. Then I rebooted. Nothing was saved, so I was
back to square one. This time, I tried to use the linuxconf/netcfg stuff.
Now I can't get diald to find my modem. I get errors relating to inability
to get tty attributes.
My questions
1) what's the best way to get everything back to pre-diald, pre-ethernet
config to re-do it all? What ppp setup does netcfg do, and where do I get to
to remove it?
2) this box is a 486 66, with 750M of disk. Would it be easier to upgrade
to RH 6.1 and restart, keep with the current (5.2), or just download the Linux
Router Project stuff and go with that?
3) if I go the LRP way, anyone have pointers to good HOWTO info on it? The
stuff on http://www.linuxrouter.org> is somewhat lightweight on info, and
I'm not keen on downloading 5 directories of stuff only to find out I need to
be running some other stuff first.
Thanks,
