Greetings !
Running dump under RedHat6.1, I find that I am unable to reuse a [new]
Travan4 tape because mt detects an End-of-Tape mark soon after beginning
any operation, though this was not so on first usage, of course.
If I use mt to rewind, then erase, all seems to go properly. But if I
then, say..........
dump 0uf /dev/nst0 /var
soon, after starting up, I get a message about vol2, i.e. "next tape
please".
How can I return the tape to it's pristine condition, permitting full,
unencumbered usage ?
BTW, this is a 4Gig [native, scsi] tape. What would be optimal blocking
and density settings ?
Appreciatively,
Courtney
