Just want'd to add in information from dealing with my 4300 with
the AMI MegaRAID (PERC2/SC) card... I went to AMI's site and downloaded
the firmware revision GH6E and it solved my problem... I would not recommend
doing this on a system already install'd as it did wipe out my logic
device configuration but I was able to install Debian 2.2 with a 2.2.14
kernel without as much as one error or timeout from the controller...
Incidentally I had to pull the card to get numbers off it and found
it to be the Express 200 (Series 466) firmware image that I needed to use
and the AMI MFLASH.EXE detected the card as valid for that image...
Use at your own risk, as Dell won't support it since they consider
it "unreleased" and they won't support 2.2.14 kernels since RedHat has
not released a distribution based off it yet... However my rep at Dell
told me "AMI broke the driver. RedHat knows about it, but AMI owns the
driver. They will have to use the older rev until AMI decides to fix it."
Respectfully,
Jeremy T. Bouse
