I agree...I run Exchange inside the firewall for its groupware features
(which are used heavily) and use Linux/Sendmail for Internet mail. I just
use smtp relaying and pop/fetchmail to route messages to and from the
Exchange MTA. I'm not a big fan of Exchange personally, but the problems
Patrick described sound like they we're caused by poor planning.

Is your series of emails more of an indictment of Exchange or an
illustration of what happens
when you rollout server software in an environment where it seams no one
knows NT well and apparently no one onsite that understands whats the
demands and feature set of Exchange. A poorlly planned rollout of software
on any platform would have the same results
