Well HP also made a number of WinPrinters using their PPA (Printing
Performance Architecture). http://www.httptech.com/ppa/ has information on
how analyzing the binary output when printing to a file under Win95 was used
to decipher the protocol and write a program which works with Ghostscript to
allow output to these printers under Linux. Maybe you can use this
information to decipher the protocol for the Lexmark and/or the Xerox
printers. And maybe you'll get really lucky and the Xerox uses the same
architecture.
