Don't you love it when a manufacturer seems to go out of its way to alienate
whole classes of potential customers??
I'm not sure if it's worth the effort to prove them wrong. I would be more
motivated to prove them shortsighted and bullheaded by figuring out how to
integrate a competing product. If I succeeded, I would e-mail the results
to TEAMXRX, cc'ing Slashdot. Why try to integrate a product that just
doesn't seem to want to be integrated??
My read is that any peripheral manufacturer who makes good, solid products
and who has the stones to open up their products' specs and be generally
cooperative will get Linux drivers written FOR them if they don't want to
hire people to write them. Xerox does not appear to want to pursue either
approach, which is certainly their prerogative - just as it's ours to look
for a different product!!
