It matters what the scope of your install is .Exchange is a fine product ,
but the reason
for using it are ease of use ( not just for administration but for users as
well), as well as its
calendaring and workgroup solutions.
Sendmail and other solutions are fine for certain situations, but depending
on your situation
they may not provide the functionality.your users require
