The current special price is $99. Of course out of the box it's only useful
if connected to netpliance's service at $22 a month. The hack allows for
booting from a hard disk and running the OS of your choice.

I bought two just on the premise of having a $99 transportable that runs
Linux. Be aware that the processor is a 200 Mhz winchip, that the screen
is 800x600 (not sure how many colors) and that it only has parallel and
USB interfaces. On the upside it does use a real modem, not a Winmodem.

You probably can come in for 1/2 that price by adding a 2.5 in IDE disk.
I'm looking at the prospect of booting from the 16M flash. Then you only
need the disk to swap the OS.
I'm also wondering if the Webgear Aviator parallel wireless card has Linux
support. Just bought the PCMCIA cards over the weekend and had them talking
in about 20 minutes.
