Thanks for sharing a great project. Netboot it and you've got a cool
X-Terminal, that poor mythical beast.
I am guessing that the disk connection would have correct pinouts if the
header were on the back side of the board. You probably can't move the
connector, but there is another hack to achieve the same result: use two
shorter straight-through ribbon cables with a header connecting them at the
middle. (I don't know if the "ASCII drawing" will make it through the mailer
...)
1:1 header placed in-line-VV conn-VVV
{motherboard}[ ]-----------------[ ]==[ ]------------[ ]{disk}
*conn-^^^ ^^^-flat cable *^^^ *^^^ ^^^-flat cable
There is a beast called a "bulkhead connector" which _adds_ the swap-over
for cases when you must use two flat cables end-to-end through a panel. Here
we are using the 2nd cable to "undo" the swap at the MB.
