I also have an emachine 400I and can't use the internal modem that came with
it for Linux. It is a WinModem and will not work. I recommend an External
modem. I have a Zoom 56K that works just fine with Linux and only cost $99.
The 3Com/USR external normally sells for $129.

Help!
I am new to the Linux world and I am having a few problems. I have an
e-machine 400I. I have Linux-Mandrake ( McMillian distribution ) loaded on
my machine on a dual-boot system with Windows 98. The modem that came
pre-installled is a HSP Micromodem v.90 K56. Can anyone supply me with a
driver or tell me where I can download it from......or....do I just need to
go out and purchase a new modem. Any advice will be appreciated.
