I've had Charter Pipeline for about a year, with
several Win/Linux/Mac boxes behind a masq firewall.
The tech support guy (who was fairly clueful) had
this to say when I asked him about running multiple
hosts behind a firewall on my residential feed:
"What I don't know can't hurt me."
While I like the service in general, I have had
a couple of problems:
(1) The CP web site contains a single support
email address. I have sent many messages to that
address, but rarely receive even an acknowlegement.
I'm not sure humans ever actually look in that
mailbox.
(2) I'm supposed to get 5MB web space as part of
the deal, but the instructions I received for
uploading my content to the server (just ftp)
have never worked, and repeated complaints to
the above-mentioned support address received
no reply.
(3) My POP mailbox passwords seem to change
randomly. They assign really lame ones (i.e. 123),
and the only way to get them changed is to
call up their tech support and tell them what
you want your password to be. But they tend to
revert to the original lame ones after a random
interval for some reason.
