You'll probably get more current advice, but here's what I did:
1. Got the 'ntp' sources from 'Time Server'
http://www.exe.udel.edu/~ntp>
2. Built the whole schmeer (to get the libs), then built 'ntpdate'.
3. Installed 'ntpdate' and blew away the rest.
4. Found a second[?]-tier server that accepted my inquiries. (See the
docs, then try a few.)
5. Wrote a simple script which:
a. Set the system clock to match the server, then
b. Set the board clock to match the system clock. [This requires
'root' privileges.]
6. put the script into the 'cron.daily' entries.
