I heartily agree. I would not want to undertake moving my users to Linux,
it is simply not ready. Besides, our central IT office would disconnect me
from the WAN. I was speaking as an administrator. I don't know that I
would like to convert my Mom just yet, either, although she asks about it.
With MS's resources, I am not sure why they can't come up with administrator
installs and Joe user installs, though ...pj

Well, I\'ll tell you what... I have gotten my mom and my father both
comfortable using linux at home...but our network here at work is a
different story. we have a little over 9000 users... I too believe in this
open source world, but do I want to support those 9000 users runnign linux?
hell no... Linux still has a way to go before it becomes as self supportive
as windows. As much as I hate it, MS has done an excellent job for the
average Joe user. And as long as it makes my job easier, it wil remain the
desktop of choice for the enterprise. The truth hurts... but life goes
on...

I agree with the sentiment that MS basically forces its way on us. I
dislike MS not only because I agree with open source and choices, but
because, as an administrator, I still must go through the so-called idiot
proof installations (like that stupid paperclip) and I am forced to accept
IE on my desktop, even if I don\'t like or use it. It can be frustrating to
get rid of it as the default browser, and I prefer Netscape and Word Perfect

The user usually is stupid...
