Can we assume that a device that costs $117 will have a halfway
intelligent dhcp server? I wouldn't make any such assumption.

Only on the one Linux box, which is to be a server for all the other
boxen. I want it to serve as a PDC, FTP, SMTP and POP server for the
other two.

This is *exactly* the problem. The Laptop takes too long to reboot, but
has (currently) to be changed between DHCP mode for the office and fixed
for home. Royal pain in any part of the anatomy you choose to name.
Thus, I am interested in getting DHCP running on my network, but I want it
my way.
