if you start X or you login to an XDM session as ordiary user, then try to
start linuxconf as root, you will get permission denied because as it
says, you don't have rights. This is starndard X error since it is
client/server based. You have to explicitly allow others to
connect to your DISPLAY before they can do so.
If this is not the case, then, nevel mind.
