Sounds like you are looking for a router.
The company I work for has installed something similar to a WebShuttle in
several places with good luck. We have been installing WebRamps, which
have the ability to bond modems (up to 3 of them) in addition to all this
other good stuff.
Question for the original poster: Does WebShuttle have support for fixed
IP addresses? If so, I would probably want to set up my box with a fixed
address, and my wife's with a DHCP address, and my laptop could stay on
DHCP when bouncing it back and forth between my home and office nets.

It performs NAT, that would prevent anyone from even seeing any servers
running on the inside of your network. Whether it presents any services
to the outside, I don't know, but I would doubt.
