From the looks of it, your DISPLAY variable is not set & remadmin does not know where to create a X-Window connection to.
try:        
export DISPLAY=`hostname`:0.0
and then start-up linuxconf (be sure to have your hostsname defined in /etc/hosts too).
If that does it, then put that line in ONE of either .profile or /etc/profile.
