What is the setting in diald.conf that will turn it off after so many
minutes of inactivity? I'm using the default config from RH6.0 and it seems
to work fine dialing into Mindspring. But Mindspring seems soooo
sloooooooooow at night. I would like to kill it after 5 minutes of
inactivity.
Does anyone know how to get a base phone line from Bellsouth or someone else
that is cheap. I don;t hardly use my line and it seems I'm still paying
around $70.00/month for it.
Thanks,
Chris

Subject: [ale] diald
Hello,
Although I have diald working pretty well, BUT there is one glitch.
After packets on the LAN stop for 3 minutes or more (like the time one
would take to compose
an email!) diald hangs up the line (as I programmed it to).
If one tries to access the Linux box again, you can see the eth0 activity
to and from on the hub,
but diald will not dial again for about 5 minutes. I have no such timers
to 'keepdown' like the
keep alive type option. HOWEVER, any IP access on the Linux box itself
WILL cause diald to
dial again!?
Anybody run into this problem?
Thanks
