Hi:
Since you're using KDE, why not just right click on the desktop,
select "execute command",
type ftp://ftp.gnu.org into the little box that pops up, and in a few
seconds, you'll be presented with a view into their file system.
Click on the "gnu" folder, then scroll down to the "ddd" folder, click on
that. Wnen it opens, drag the file you want onto a blank spot on
your desktop. A little menu will open - click on "copy" and wait.
No passwords or anything necessary. When it finishes, you can
drag and drop the file into whatever directory you want.
