I want to see everything on the wire. But I do not want to interpret it
with my brain. I remember 2 years back a company had a great product at ALS
but I can't remember who they were. Their product was X based and around
$1000

when you say IP, do you mean generic ip flow across the wire or snmp based
information? I use MRTG here and it rocks...it polls basix snmp from all of
our routers and switches... Very easy to set up!
And if you can poll your routers, you can watch how busy they are and that
generally lets you know what kinda traffic you have on the various
networks...

Or you may want to try something like Ntop, its much more of a monitor
program for
IP. It has a nice web interface when used as a process
